Shout-Outs and a Guest Post

I’m Guest Posting today at Homestead Host.  The fabulous Erin has asked me to do a regular Monday post there.  Today I’m sharing my thoughts on how to Transition to Real Food in 8 Easy Steps.  These are essentially the things my family did to make our gradual change from a Standard American Diet (SAD) to a mostly Real Foods diet.

My friend and almost neighbor (we both live and Wyoming and when there are only 500,000 people in the state, we are all neighbors!) Jill from The Prairie Homestead: Return to Your Roots has launched a new eBook Your Custom Homestead. This eBook is great! Whether you live in an apartment or on hundred’s of acres, the tips will benefit you.  I’ll have a full review on this book in a couple of days but don’t wait for my review, this book is too good to pass up!  Jill is offering a sample chapter for the ‘cost’ of a tweet or facebook share. Go, check it out.

Did you see this post from Wardeh at GNOWFGLINS on “Amish” Butter? What would you have thought?

Do you use whey in your vegetable ferments? Take a look at this article from Jessica at Delicious Obsessions. It provides a compelling argument for NOT using whey.  I do use whey in my vegetable ferments with no issues but this article really makes me think. I might try some no-whey kraut and see how it turns out.

Mmmmmm. Bourbon Chicken from KerryAnn at Cooking Traditional Foods looks soooo good. I have just one package of chicken breasts left from our home-grown chickens and it is going to be used for this Bourbon Chicken.  After that, we’ll be having Bourbon Antelope :-) . I suspect that will be pretty good also.

Take a look at this great post from the Pantry Paratus- Chef Nancy: Menu Planning and Weston A. Price Foundation.  I love reading about how people make traditional foods work in their lives. Chef Nancy offers some great tips on menu planning, using leftovers and getting traditional meals on the table.

What uses do you have for coconut oil?  Take a look at this very detailed article from the fabulous Erin at Homestead Host.  Some super ideas!

Have you seen my new eBook?  Design a Dish is a 34 page eBook focused on  creating real/whole/traditional foods while stretching your food dollars. In this eBook I share with you ways to help make the most of your food budget and still enjoy a variety of tasty dishes your family will love.  This book is FREE when you sign up for my newsletter. I know what you are thinking, ‘not another newsletter’.  I plan to make it worth it for you! Newsletter sign up will make you eligible for all Real Food for Less Money giveaways plus you’ll have additional articles not from the website.
